Impact Baltimore 2011 was our second year of joining the battle for the souls of a broken-hearted and desolate group of people, We believe the Lord wants to turn this city upside-down for Christ, to heal the broken-hearted, and set the captives free.
The truth is that even with all the other efforts that have been made in Baltimore, we are just scratching the surface of the need for rsalvation, deliverance, and restoration in this city.
From a city with 80,000 heroin addicts, thousands of crack cocaine addicts, and an untold number of people daily under the control of various other drugs and alcohol, we believe the cry for help and mercy has reached the very ears of God - and He wants to do something about it through you and me. There can never be too many volunteers joining in this effort.
Teen Challenge from Baltimore and Rehersburg teamed with local and visiting churches to tell the Good News on the streets, in the parks, and in the marketplaces. The children of these families flocked to see the kid's programs of clowns, puppets, song and dance, all with a joyful Christian message. We didn't talk to anybody who wanted their kids to follow in their footsteps, into addiction and dependance, but hoped for a better life for them. Unfortunately, without parental leadership, many kids will never escape the same fate without strong intervention and a good example from others who have escaped the cycle.
Our team of volunteers from all different kinds of churches shared with thousands of people on the streets in the neighborhoods around three city parks: Bocek Park, Madison Square Park, and Patterson Park.
We rejoice at the prayers of dozens of children to receive Christ as their
savior, not to mention those of numerous adults, both on the streets, and at the rallies in the parks in the evenings.
There were also conuntless prayers for deliverance, healing and provision. Many visiting groups and our TC members received great training in street evangelism.
This year’s Impact Baltimore comprised of three separate weeks of Inner-city outreaches: June 27-July 1; July 11-15, and August 8-12. We also participating in the regional all-church outreachs, the Day of Hope and Servefest.
Please pray about joining with local and visiting churches and ministries next year to make this an effort that heals this City wtih the love of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. We already have the dates and locations planned for next year's outreach.
If you begin praying and saving now, perhaps you can join us for a week next summer, and discover what a difference it makes in your life to reach out to the poor and broken-hearted in reality, not just with lip-service.
There were no regrets from the people who attended this year, but there were lots of testimonials. Some of our TC students met guys on the street that they used to use drugs with, or that they had done time in prison with. Several of those met Jesus as a result, something which would not have happened if someone had not gone and spoken the words of life to them. May God bless you all.
